Maximum towing capacity, payload capacity, horsepower, torque, and ground clearance — these are just a few of the metrics truck buyers often prioritize. But one crucial factor that’s harder to measure is reliability.
Among pickup trucks, heavy-duty (HD) models dominate the longevity rankings. Of the top 10 longest-lasting trucks, nearly all are either HD offerings from Chevrolet or Ford, or reliable options from Toyota.
Curious if your truck made the cut? Here’s the complete list:

1. GMC Sierra 3500HD

Claiming the 10th spot is the GMC Sierra 3500HD, with a 26 percent probability of hitting 250,000 miles — 1.3 times more likely than the average pickup. For context, the typical truck has a 19.4 percent chance of reaching this quarter-million-mile milestone.
GMC’s most robust consumer truck is essentially a more upscale version of the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD (which appears later in this list). Regardless of which heavy-duty GM truck you choose, new models can tow up to 36,000 pounds when configured as a 2WD dually.

2. Toyota Tacoma

The first of only two non-heavy-duty trucks in the top 10, the midsize Toyota Tacoma secures ninth place with a 26.7 percent chance of reaching 250,000 miles — 1.4 times the average. This also makes the Tacoma the longest-lasting midsize pickup on the market.
A legendary symbol of reliability, the Tacoma underwent a redesign for 2024 and now comes exclusively with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, including a hybrid option. This marks a significant shift from the naturally aspirated V-6s and four-cylinders that powered the Tacoma since its 1990s debut — a change that hopefully continues its legacy of dependability.

3. Ram 2500

Securing eighth place by a narrow margin (the percentage differences between most trucks on this list, aside from the leaders, are quite small) is the Ram 2500. It boasts a 27.2 percent chance of surpassing 250,000 miles — 1.4 times more likely than the average pickup.
While its lighter-duty Ram 1500 sibling missed the top 10 (and actually ranked last among direct competitors), Ram’s heavy-duty lineup is clearly built to withstand tough use. The new 2500 comes standard with a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8, with an optional 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel straight-six for enhanced capability.

4. Ford F-250 Super Duty

Edging out the Ram 2500 for seventh place is its direct Ford rival, the F-250 Super Duty. With a 27.4 percent chance of hitting 250,000 miles, it’s 1.4 times more likely to reach this milestone than the average truck.
Today, the F-250 Super Duty is available with a gasoline engine, but the standout choice is arguably the 6.7-liter turbodiesel V-8. Ford also offers an optional off-road Tremor package for the XLT trim, enhancing its versatility.

5. Ford F-350 Super Duty

The heavier-duty Ford F-350 Super Duty narrowly outperforms its F-250 sibling, claiming sixth place. It has a 28.3 percent chance of reaching 250,000 miles — 1.5 times more likely than the average pickup.
When configured as a 4x2 regular cab dually, a new F-350 can tow an impressive 38,000 pounds — just 2,000 pounds shy of the F-450’s class-leading 40,000-pound maximum towing capacity. While regularly tackling such heavy loads may bring its longevity closer to the segment average, the F-350’s durability remains impressive.

6. Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD

Taking fifth place is the Ford F-350’s GM counterpart, the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD. This heavy-duty Chevrolet has a 28.7 percent chance of reaching 250,000 miles — 1.5 times the average pickup.
Notably, it slightly outlasts its GMC-badged twin — a pattern that repeats with the 2500-series trucks. My theory? This has less to do with mechanical differences (the two are functionally identical) and more with owner behavior: average GMC owners tend to replace their trucks slightly earlier and more frequently out of habit, not necessity.

7. GMC Sierra 2500HD

Speaking of the 2500-series, the GMC Sierra 2500HD just misses the podium, finishing fourth with a 29.1 percent chance of hitting 250,000 miles — 1.5 times the average.
Equipped with a gooseneck hitch and the 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V-8, the modern Sierra 2500 can tow over 22,000 pounds. Prices range from just over \(70,000 for a 2WD Pro work truck to nearly \)130,000 for the luxurious Denali Ultimate trim. There’s also an AT4X variant positioned just below the Ultimate, designed for off-road enthusiasts.

8. Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

Mirroring their 3500-series siblings, the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD tends to be driven farther than its GMC counterpart. It secures third place with a 29.6 percent chance of reaching 250,000 miles — 1.5 times more likely than the average truck.
As noted earlier, it’s mechanically identical to the GMC Sierra 2500HD but offers a less luxurious interior, a lower price point, and is plausibly kept longer due to its different target audience. For example, a new regular cab WT trim can be purchased for under \(50,000, while Chevy buyers seeking more luxury can opt for the High Country trim, which approaches \)80,000.

9. Toyota Tundra

Marking the first significant jump in longevity probability on this list, the ever-reliable Toyota Tundra claims the title of the second-longest-lasting pickup truck. A remarkable 36.6 percent of Tundras are expected to hit 250,000 miles — 1.9 times more likely than the average truck.
It’s also the only half-ton pickup in the top 10, delivering heavy-duty-level durability in a more everyday-friendly package. The latest generation debuted in 2022 and faced a major recall due to engine failures, but Toyota has since committed to replacing all faulty engines free of charge.

10. Ram 3500

Taking the durability crown by a substantial margin is the Ram 3500. These heavy-duty trucks have a 42.6 percent chance of reaching 250,000 miles — a class-leading 2.2 times the average.
When optimally configured, a new Ram 3500 can tow up to 36,610 pounds. Regardless of opinions on the longevity of other Stellantis products, the front-end styling of the recently refreshed 2025 Ram HD, or the reputations of some drivers, if you’re seeking a pickup that will stand the test of time — the Ram 3500 is hard to beat.

DIY Skateboarding: The Grassroots Movement Redefining Skate Culture

DIY skateboarding isn’t just a way to create places to skate—it’s a rebellious, creative movement that lies at the heart of skate culture, blending resourcefulness, community, and unapologetic self-expression. Unlike traditional skateboarding, which often relies on commercial skateparks or pre-existing urban features (like handrails or curbs), DIY skateboarding empowers riders to build their own obstacles, ramps, and entire skate spots from scratch. It’s born from a simple yet powerful idea: if the world doesn’t give you a place to skate, you build it yourself. From abandoned warehouses and overgrown lots to backyard corners and industrial alleyways, DIY spots are more than just concrete and wood—they’re symbols of skateboarding’s independent spirit, where rules are rewritten, and passion drives innovation. This guide dives deep into the world of DIY skateboarding, exploring its rich history, vibrant culture, step-by-step building process, rewards, challenges, and future—proving that skateboarding is as much about creating as it is about riding.
